Rules and strategy

How to play Solitaire

Objective

Move every card into the four foundation piles. Each foundation starts with an ace and builds upward by suit until it reaches the king.

Setup

Seven tableau columns hold the dealt cards. The first column has one card, the next has two, and so on. Only each column's bottom card starts face up.

Moves

Build tableau stacks in descending rank and alternating color. Empty columns accept kings, and face-down cards turn over when uncovered.

Stock

When no tableau move helps, draw from the stock. In Turn 1 mode, one card appears in the waste pile at a time and can move to the tableau or foundations.

Strategies to win more often

  • Reveal face-down tableau cards before polishing foundations.
  • Check the stock card early so it becomes part of your opening plan.
  • Work longer columns first because they hide more information.
  • Keep empty columns available for kings when possible.
  • Use undo-style thinking: test a sequence mentally before committing.
